These pages
list some additional information about ScotWeave features that you
may not be aware of.
Updated ScotWeave Manuals
are on Your Hard Drive
With every ScotWeave update, the latest versions of the ScotWeave
instruction manuals are installed on your hard drive. These manuals
are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format and can be found in the folder C:\ScotWeave\PDF
Manuals. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed then simply
double-click on a manual PDF file to open and read it.
Auto Drape is Now Standard in Dobby and Jacquard
Once you have created or opened a design you can auto-drape it on
a range of preset drape images by using the View
- Auto Drape Fabric menu option (or press the F10
function key). ScotWeave initially supplies 9 preset drape projects
but for a small fee you can have a drape designed specifically for
your needs.
You Can Open Jacquard Base Weaves in Dobby Designer
If you have both Jacquard and Dobby Designer on your computer then
you can open jacquard base weaves and apply them to the dobby weave
window. This is especially useful as an alternative way to create
double cloth dobby weaves using the separate face weave back weave
windows in the Base Weave program. Use File - Open - Jacquard
Base Weave in Dobby Designer. To open a dobby weave (not peg
plan) in the Base Weave program use File - Open Dobby.
You Can Read Weave Data From Standard Image Files
All of the ScotWeave weave creation programs can import standard
image files (e.g. BMP, TIFF) and extract weave data from these images.
You must ensure that only 2 colours are used in the image - a dark
colour for a warp lift and a light colour for a weft lift but you
can use any colours. Look for the File - Import - Image as Weave
option in each program. This feature may allow you to import weave
data from other CAD systems. You can also use File - Export -
Weave as Image to save weave data as 2-colour standard image
files.
You Can Convert from One Jacquard Loom Disk Format to Another
The Jacquard Looms program has a File - Convert Disk menu
option that allows you to read one type of loom disk (e.g. Bonas)
and save the data back to another type of loom disk (e.g. Staubli
JC4). Note that the harness layout for both disks will be the same.
You Can Automatically Create Backup Copies of Loom Disk Files
You can configure the Jacquard Looms program to automatically create
a copy of a loom disk file on a hard disk drive whenever you create
a loom disk. This gives a backup copy of the loom disk file which
can be archived or copied directly to a floppy disk again at any
time in the future. Use the Configure - User Preferences
option for this.
