Software development
continues at ScotWeave with some powerful new features added for
February 2004. Some of these features come directly from suggestions
and feedback we received at ITMA 2003.
Jacquard
Looms
A major new version of the Jacquard Looms program has just
been released. The changes here have been designed to improve the
functionality of the program as a standalone loom disk editing system
as well as maintaining the support for ScotWeave loom disk creation.
Changes here
included easier weave editing, faster weave navigation, improved
hook map support, ability to "apply a harness file" to
a loom disk for easier identification of loom functions, faster
"Undo" operation, revised menus and dialogs for faster
operation and additional weave editing tools.
Jacquard
Designer
An all-new method for creating a jacquard design automatically has
been added to this release. This feature is designed to created
realistic "picture jacquards" (similar to photographs)
and uses a supplied default yarn palette and library of graduated
weaves to create the jacquard design. Called simply PictureJaq
this new feature uses 4 warp x 4 weft sequence artwork images.
New Browse
Compatible button in the Get Weaves function which will only
display those weaves with the same layer structure and
base ends/picks as was selected when the artwork was created.
An alternative
method for weave assignment has been provided - you may now
click on the colour in the artwork image as well as the colour in
the Get Weaves window.
Dobby
Designer
The Save Weave option now checks through all existing weave
files, looking for the same weave structure before storing. If any
identical weave structures are found then the filenames are displayed.
This prevents saving duplicate versions of the same weave to file.
Some changes
have been made to the automatic Fabric Costing feature. This
feature displays the fabric cost per square metre as you create
the design and allows you to enter a maximum fabric cost and to
warn you if the design exceeds this cost.
