Input
Images can be input directly from a scanner, digital camera,
or can be imported from virtually any standard graphics image
file format (e.g. TIFF, BMP, PCX, Photoshop PSD, etc.).
Alternatively,
you can use the extensive freehand painting tools to paint
an artwork image from a blank screen. A variety of copy, paste,
repeat functions, and painting tools are available to facilitate
quick and easy creation impressive artwork from scratch, or to touch
up scanned or imported designs.
Colour
Depth
Artwork Designer supports both 24-bit (16.7 million colour)
and 8-bit (256 colour) modes. You can convert between each
colour mode at any time. It is often useful to carry out the original
scanning and image manipulation in 24-bit mode and then convert
to 8-bit mode for jacquard artwork use towards the end of the design
process.
A range of automatic
and manual colour compression tools are available to further
reduce artwork colours, and clean imagery. A "two-colour mode"
is available which applies different painting colours too each mouse
button (pen switch). 
Transparency
and Colour Protection
Artwork
Designer allows painting using multiple transparent colours (e.g.
for background removal when pasting images) and also multiple colour
protection via the "Key" and "Mask" options.
Image
Placement
All drawing and copy functions have optional keyboard input to allow
for precise placement of copied objects and specific sizes of geometric
functions. Simply select a tool the press the "Insert"
key on the keyboard to enter a coordinate position and/or size.
