Nature
of Problem :
Printing
takes too long (over 30 minutes for a full page)
Half page dobby/jacquard prints are okay but full pages do not print
ScotWeave Colour Library pages do not print correctly
Solution
:
Some of these problems may be caused by insufficient printer
memory to allow full pages to be composed on the printer correctly,
or the inability of the Postscript driver to correctly handle
the large file sizes involved.
An option has
been added to ScotWeave which allow pages to be scaled down in size
at image generation time which will greatly reduce the file sizes
and print times. However, this is achieved at the expense of resolution
so that some detail and sharpness may be lost from the final printout.
You can test
this option by selecting a dobby or jacquard to print as normal.
When you see the ScotWeave printer setup dialog box (the one that
allows you to enter warp/weft setting values etc.) look at the bottom
left corner of the dialog.
Here you will
see an item called Printer Scaling.
Change the Scale factor value
to be "2" and note how this reduces the Effective
dpi for the printer. Continue with the print as normal.
If this change
results in an acceptable printout, then you can either use this
option every time you print or you can set the default "Scale
factor" as follows -
Start the
ScotWeave Setup program
Select Configure - ScotWeave Printers
- Advanced
Set the Use printer scaling
check box ON
Enter the required value for the Printer
Scaling Factor
If you also
have problems printing library pages then
Set the Use
alternative library page layout check box ON
Set the Page Scaling Factor
to "5"
Now save the
changed configuration using the File -
Save menu option.
