Nature of
Problem :
When using more than one ScotWeave system on a Local Area Network,
the design from one system suddenly appears on the screen of another
system.
Solution
:
Although this may seem alarming the cause is very simple. ScotWeave
stores working files in a special "Temp" folder. If this
folder is being shared across the network then the files in the
folder are being overwritten by more then one computer. When ScotWeave
goes to the temporary folder to reload design information, the information
in the file has actually been overwritten by a different computer
therefore ScotWeave appears to load back the wrong design information.
The solution
is to ensure that the "Temp" folder on each workstation
is located on the workstation's own hard disk and is not shared
across the network.
Start the
ScotWeave Setup program
Select Configure - Disk Drives
In the System Area set the System
File Type to Temporary Files
Set the Current Drive Assignment
to C: Local Hard Drive
Now save the
changed configuration using File - Save
menu
Repeat this
process for every workstation on the network.
