Create Jacquard Design from Loom Disk
CADCAM Software for All Woven Textiles

It is possible to read jacquard weave data back from a jacquard loom disk and into ScotWeave as a single cloth weave design. Once in ScotWeave the design can be re-coloured and the weave edited as normal.

Overview of procedure -
1. Read the loom disk onto the ScotWeave screen
2. Save part or all of the weave as a ScotWeave "Repeat" (RPT) file
3. Load the RPT file into the Jacquard Designer
4. Apply warp and weft patterns to view the design

Detailed procedure-
1.1 Start the ScotWeave Jacquard Looms program
1.2 Select File - Open - Loom Disk
1.3 Select the correct disk type and drive location and load the weave. This should result in a window containing the entire contents of the loom disk. Check that this looks okay before you proceed.

2.1 Now select Weave edit - Save Repeat - Use Mouse from the top menu.
2.2 Click the mouse at the bottom left of the weave area you wish to save (i.e. on the first end and pick of the actual weave area (ignore any castouts at the start of the weave).
2.3 Click the mouse at the top right of the weave area you wish to save (use the scroll bars to scroll to the correct location). The selected area will change colour to red.
2.4 Now enter a name for the Repeat File (or simply accept the default name "JaqRepeat.RPT") then click Save. A prompt will confirm that the file has been saved okay.

3.1 Now start the ScotWeave Jacquard Designer program.
3.2 Add some yarns to the palette as normal.
3.3 Now select File - Import RPT File
3.4 Select the Repeat File that you stored at step 2.4 above.

4.1 Create a warp and weft pattern as normal
4.2 The design should now be viewed as normal.

This is now a ScotWeave jacquard design without an artwork image. It can be saved and edited as normal but there are no base weaves to change.
