Change Disk Drives
CADCAM Software for All Woven Textiles

When you open or save a file, ScotWeave can be setup to go to default folder paths or to go to the last folder used. Click here to see how to do this.

If you use default folder paths, then you can choose where these default paths will be. Initially the default paths will be a folder structure on the local hard disk drive C: of your computer. If you wish to use the same folder structure on another disk drive (e.g. a network drive, second hard drive or separate partition on a hard drive) then you can use the following procedure to change this.

For a second hard drive or partition on a hard drive -

1. Check and note the drive letter for the required drive
2. Manually create the folder \ScotWeave on this drive
3. Start ScotWeave as normal. Select Setup & Print then Setup
5. Select Configure - Disk Drives
6. Select a User data file type
7. Select the mapped drive in Current Drive Assignment
8. Repeats steps 6 and 7 as required or, if all data is to saved to the
same mapped drive click Use current drive for all data file types
9. OK the dialog
10. Select Files - Save

For a network drive the procedure is as follows -

Server Setup

1. Decide on where the shared "drive" will be located
2. Create an empty \ScotWeave folder in the root of this "drive" area
3. Ensure the "drive" is shared with full read/write access

Workstation Setup (do this at every workstation)

1. Map a free drive letter to the Server drive allocated above
2. Check that the drive letter is available in My Computer
3. Start ScotWeave as normal
4. Select Setup & Print then Setup
5. Select Configure - Disk Drives
6. Select a User data file type
7. Select the mapped drive in Current Drive Assignment
8. Repeats steps 6 and 7 as required or, if all data is to saved to the
same mapped drive click Use current drive for all data file types
9. OK the dialog
10. Select Files - Save

Do not change the Temporary Files drive in the System area to a shared local area network drive or unexpected problems may arise - more information.

Note that it is also to setup ScotWeave to save files across a network using full UNC pathnames. Using this technique, you can also rename the ScotWeave default folders to be any names you wish. The procedure for this is, however, more complex and you should contact ScotWeave directly for more information.
