The maximum sizes available to the ScotWeave Dobby Designer program are as follows -

Maximum Dobby Shafts 64
Maximum Weave Size 12,000 ends x 12,000 picks

If you routinely use smaller numbers of shafts and smaller weave sizes than this then the Dobby Designer program will run more quickly and more efficiently if you reduce these values. You may also wish to reduce the number of dobby shafts for compatibility with your production looms.

Changing the number of shafts

This procedure is carried out within Dobby Designer and can be done at any time within the program

1. Start Dobby Designer as normal
2. Select Configure - User Preferences
3. Look for the Maximum Dobby Shafts input box
4. Change Max. Shafts to the new value required
5. Click on OK

The value you enter here will be stored and used whenever you start Dobby Designer.

Changing the Maximum Weave Size

It is a good idea to reduce this value if you never used such large weaves. This will reduce the amount of memory used by Dobby Designer and will result in faster, more efficient operation. This change must be done in the ScotWeave Setup program and will not take effect until the next time Dobby Designer is started.

1. Start ScotWeave as normal
2. Select Setup & Print then Setup
3. Select Configure - Dobby Weave Size
4. Enter a value for Maximum Dobby Ends
5. Enter a value for Maximum Dobby Picks
6. Click on OK
7. Select Files - Save to save your changes
