The image on the left is a partial screenshot of a typical Yarn palette area.

At the top of the palette is the current yarn colour. This is the colour that will appear in a warp or weft pattern if you paint directly into the pattern. You can change the current yarn colour at any time by simply moving the cursor onto a yarn in the palette and clicking the LEFT mouse button.

Yarns in the palette are represented by small colour images of the yarns. Each yarn is associated with a letter or pair of letters for easy identification. A palette can hold up to 80 different yarns.

Use the vertical scroll bar to the right of the palette are to scroll through the yarns in a full palette.

The following yarn types can be added to the palette

Solid self-coloured yarns
Twisted yarns
Mixture (melange) yarns
Fancy (scanned) yarns

Space-Dyed yans

The box to the left of the yarn letter indicates how the yarn is used in the current design.

> the yarn is used in the weft (fill) pattern
^ the yarn is used in the warp pattern

In the example shown, yarns B and F are used in the warp and yarns B and E are used in the weft.

A quick popup menu of options which affect the yarn palette is available by moving the cursor into the palette area and clicking the RIGHT mouse button. This menu includes the following options -
