File
Search Facilities
All ScotWeave
files share a common "file header" and information in this
header can be used for file searching in the all of main ScotWeave
programs. You can search by file name, by the date the
file was created, or use four "database keywords"
stored inside the file header. If you use the database keywords correctly
and enter appropriate information whenever a design is saved then
this feature can be used to provide a fast database search engine
which is built-in to ScotWeave and required no additional software.
Standard
File Formats
Where possible, ScotWeave is able to import and export standard
file formats for compatibility with other computer software. Since
no standards exists for woven fabric design files, the import/export
options apply mainly to image and artwork files. ScotWeave can import
virtually all standard image file formats and can output artwork
and woven fabric designs in the most commonly used formats.
A Weave eXchange
File (WXF) file format has been developed by ScotWeave, the
details of which are available to anyone on request (including other
software vendors). This format has the minimum of information required
to import and export woven fabric design (jacquard and dobby) data,
including basic colour information.
ScotWeave
Software Development
ScotWeave is an active product which is continually being developed
and improved upon. Ideas for new features come from existing customers,
potential customers, and from our own observations of the needs
of the industry.
All ScotWeave
programs are active for updating and may be subject to improvements
at any time. There are no products in our current product lineup
which have not been kept up to date or improved in some way within
the last few months.
Unlike some
software products which are sold "from the box" and offer
no upgrade support, ScotWeave is purchased with a guarantee for
updates. ScotWeave will always endeavor to fix any software problems
(bugs) encountered by customers and will make best efforts to incorporate
any useful improvements suggested by our customers. Furthermore,
any such changes will be made in a reasonable time (typically several
days or less for a bug fix and several weeks for simple added features).
