HSV Colour System
Yarn Designer incorporates the Hue Saturation Value (HSV), also sometimes known as HLS, colour model and uses three separate colour bars to visually control the relative amounts of each. The HSV system is simple to use and it is easy to understand the effect the a change in any one component will have on the overall colour. In addition to this, a colour circle is also used to help locate and adjust a particular shade. Show Me

For compatibility, colour coordinates are displayed in both HSV and RGB colour models (conversion between RGB and HSV is performed automatically).

PCR Colour System
A simple printer colour match system is also provided using a "colour library" book printed on your own printer. Each colour on a library page has a unique Page, Column, and Row number giving rise to the "PCR" notation used for printer colours. There is some correlation between PCR and HSV so that a degree of automatic conversion between the two systems is possible, although manual fine-tuning of colours may be required.

A separate software option, ScotColor, is also available for entering measured CIE colour data from a spectrophotometer into ScotWeave. This system automatically derives the screen and printer colours and ensures colour accuracy via a system of colour calibration for screen and printer.

Yarn Files
A ScotWeave Yarn File is a collection of yarn colours that share the same yarn count value, and may use any of the common count systems listed below:

Metric, Gala, Worsted, Yorkshire Skene, Cotton,
Tex, DeciTex, Denier, Wool Run, Linen Lea

Select a count system to create a yarn file, and then proceed to add yarn shades to the file using either the HSV or PCR colour systems.
